CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT: Ex Boro manager completes new look team

August 20, 2015by Jalson0

Carlisle Futsal Clubs strategy of attracting top people to the Club continues with appointment of former Middlesbrough Futsal Club Manager Chris Hodgson in a first team coaching capacity.

Chris Hodgson1Hodgson, 40, who is based in South Shields in the North East of England will be linking up with the Clubs Super League squad on a match day to assist Head Coach Frank Chiarella as the Club embarks on its maiden journey in the top flight of English Futsal.

Club Chairman Al Tindall believes Hodgsons appointment will add another dimension to the dressing room dynamic

‘Anyone who speaks with Chris will know what I mean when I say this, he is a real motivator and gets the best out of players because of his personality. His coaching style fits perfectly with the Clubs playing philosophy and both he and Frank have a real focus on developing young players. This appointment means we will have all the ingredients in the dressing room to make sure the players have the best chance of realising their full potential. Its an exciting appointment.’

Hodgson, who spent two seasons with the Boro, last season led them to a highly commendable 3rd place finish in Super League group B losing out only to Baku and Birmingham for a place in the Grand Finals. His recent decision to leave the Club was unexpected, but Hodgson believed the timing was right and a new challenge was required.

Chiarella who joined the Club only a month ago was quick in recruiting Hodgson into his coaching staff

‘Chris is a guy I have known for a while, he is honest, genuine and has a real passion and enthusiasm which is infectious and will rub off on the group of players we have. We will be able to work really well together.’

Hodgson is keen to get started having turned down 3 or 4 other offers including a chance to work in London with a well established Super League Club.

‘Carlisle is a superb Club. Its a Club who in the past I have been quite vocal in praising and have admired from afar in my role as Boro Manager. If you take Carlisle along with Manchester you probably have two of the best Clubs structures in English Futsal. When I was offered the chance to work with and work with Frank Chiarella to push the Carlisle project forward it was an opportunity I had no intention of turning down.’

The new look coaching line up of Chiarella and Hodgson will take charge of their first home game of the season against last years grand Finalists Birmingham Utd on 20th September, this will be live at the Sands Centre from 5.30pm. Tickets will be available to purchase from 13th September priced at £5 each.
