Carlisle Futsal Club are delighted to announce they are hosting, live at the Sands Centre, on Sunday 9th August a showcase event featuring a host of former Carlisle United Football professionals.
Ahead of the Clubs first Super League campaign, Frank Chiarellas team will play the Futsal exhibition match aimed at showcasing the best Futsal talent in the county to see how they measure up against a team of ex-Carlisle United professionals. The event is expected to attract a sell out crowd and will feature all the usual Carlisle Futsal Club pre match entertainment with a DJ, cheerleaders and dancers.
‘This event is all about making people aware of Carlisle Futsal Club, Carlisle United are obviously very well supported as the Countys only Football League Club and with Futsal essentially being small sided football, albeit with some significant differences, we are hoping that those who follow Carlisle United will be intrigued enough to come and watch and hopefully we can attract some new supporters to our Club for the coming Super League season.’
Carlisle Futsal Club this season will be competing at the very highest level of Futsal competition in the country and are hoping to establish themselves amongst the very best with the ultimate aim of eventually qualifying to represent England in the UEFA Futsal Cup.
Derek Walsh and Tony Caig have assembled the ex-CUFC pros squad and it will feature Carlisle United fans favourites such as Peter Murphy and John Halpin.
‘Futsal is a sport I was involved in during my time in Canada and its great to see it taking off over here. Its a high intensity, end to end game so brilliant as a spectator sport, hopefully we can attract a good crowd and create a good atmosphere.’
The match will take place at the 200 capacity home of Carlisle Futsal Club, the Sands Centre, on 9th August with the event due to begin from 2pm.
Tickets can be purchased from the Sands Centre reception at any time. Club members can purchase tickets from any academy session. Remember to get your tickets early – don’t miss out!
