Much has changed for both Clubs since the partnership was formed with Carlisle City FC experiencing an outstanding season in the Northern Alliance League finishing in second place and with a move into their new home, the 4000 capacity Gilford Park, coming to fruition. Carlisle Futsal Club finished 2015 unbeaten and were selected as one of the countries top 16 Clubs having been offered a place by the FA in the Super League for season 2015/16.

Carlisle City Chairman Brian Hall, who has been instrumental in driving Carlisle City forward in recent times, was delighted to renew the partnership between the two Clubs ‘we have a number of our players playing in the Carlisle Futsal Club Academy system who are doing really well and several first team payers in Carlisles Super League squad. Futsal is already proven to benefit the development of young footballers. Carlisle Futsal Club is a rapidly growing and we are really pleased to be able to continue supporting each other and providing opportunities to the local community.’

simpson1Carlisle Futsal Club, an FA Charter Standard Club, have been at the forefront of the development of Futsal in the area in the last 3 years putting in place a full academy programme, running adult leagues with over 300 participants, developing a full academy structure from u19 to u6 and creating an adult mens team that now competes at the highest level of domestic competition in the FA National Futsal Super League with a chance to qualify for the UEFA Futsal Cup.

Carlisle City FC boast an impressive club structure with 3 senior sides, 14 boys teams and 4 girls teams and have nearly 300 players and are an FA Charter Standard Community Club. Both clubs share the same objective of progressing to the top in their respective sports league pyramid and one of the ideas is that the sharing of players at every level between the clubs will enhance both Clubs prospects of achieving this.
B92A0616Both clubs already have shared links in the local community including links with Kingmoor School, Morton School, Carlisle Utd FITC, Community Reach and Carlisle Youth Zone and have shared players at senior and junior level and will continue to help each other in forming new partnerships and promote each other’s activities in the local community.

Al Tindall Carlisle Futsal Club Chairman commented ‘Our Academy programme brings together players from a wide range of local Football Clubs whether its Stanwix, Northbank, Newlaithes or Carlisle City we welcome all. Working with local Clubs is what we want to do. This partnership allows us to really reinforce that point. There is a perception amongst the football community that Futsal is simply football played indoors and that couldn’t be further from the truth. From technique, to tactics, to the equipment, to the physical demands, its a completely different game and partnerships like these help us to promote the sport of Futsal in its own right. We aim to educate all and ultimately provide the players and coaches with new knowledge to take away and implement into their football too.’

Both Clubs have huge ambition and City have already begun to put the infrastructure in place to realise their ambitions. Carlisle Futsal Club need to create their own home venue capable of hosting live televised events with a significant spectator provision and City have shown what is possible with ambition and by working together.

Al Tindall said ‘This partnership is ultimately about creating and offering routes for local adults and children in Carlisle to progress to the highest levels in both Football and Futsal and we are delighted to be working together to do this.’
