Carlisle Futsal Club are today delighted to announce Mervyn Beacom has been appointed in the role of First Team Head Coach and will officially take over first team duties on 1st April 2015.
Beacom, 40, is currently a Captain in the British Army serving in the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers have responsibility for the maintenance, servicing and inspection of almost every electrical and mechanical piece of equipment within the British Army. He leaves the Army in April and will immediately take up his new role.
The Northern Irish man who hails from Kesh, County Fermanagh has spent many years managing Army Football teams and is ready to make the transition to Futsal after being convinced by Chairman Al Tindall that the sport has a massive future in England.
Tindall is delighted with the appointment and is looking forward to working with Beacom ‘Mervyn was introduced to me by our first team fitness Coach Neil Walker. It took about 30 seconds of conversation between us to realise this was a good fit. He has a clear vision for where he wants to take the first team and im excited to see him implement his plan. We have put in place a 6 month hand over process and we are 3 months into that. We both appreciated that he would need some time to learn the game, assess the current squad and put a season training plan in place for next year.’
Beacom is currently working his way through his coaching badges with the end goal of attaining his UEFA B Futsal coaching qualification by early 2016.
