We are delighted to unveil GMB Union as the Clubs official first team shirt sponsor for season 2020/21.
GMB is a trade union that represents all workers. They have over 620,000 members who work in every type of job imaginable across public services and in private companies too. GMB Union members work in full-time jobs, part-time jobs or are working while they study.
GMB’s job is very simple: to get the best deal possible for you. The means being on your side if there is a problem, and always fighting for better when it comes to:
- Pay, terms and conditions
- A decent work life where workers are safe and treated with dignity
- Better work/life balance
- Fairness – making sure working people have their rights at work and are treated fairly and legally when there’s a problem.
When you’re at work, it’s always good to know that someone is on your side – that’s GMB Unions job. When you’re a member of GMB, you’re part of a family that will always stand up for you. They have tens of thousands of highly trained staff and activists who understand exactly what rights you have and what employers are allowed to do.
GMB train their people in employment law, health and safety and how to represent people in disciplinary processes so that whenever there is a problem, someone has your back. On every workplace issue, from individuals facing disciplinaries, to bullying at work, to making sure you get proper maternity or paternity rights or simply making sure that your workplace is a safe place to be – GMB is there for their members.
First team Coach Jon Reay is delighted to have been able to attract a sponsor of GMBs calibre.
‘The fact we are stepping up into Tier 2 this season has without a doubt increased the level of interest in our Club and this interest now means even greater exposure for our sponsors. Its great for us to be able to provide this to GMB Union who are providing generous financial support for the season ahead. GMB Union are well known for providing support to sports Clubs in the area and to have them approach us and offer their support shows we are making an impact. We have much higher operating costs than most teams in the National Futsal Series due to our location so their support will be crucial in ensuring we can compete on an even footing with the other Clubs in our division. ‘
The Clubs mens team launched in season 2019/20 competing at Tier 3 of the National Futsal League pyramid and went on to win the division title in their debut season.
The sponsorship is part of GMB Unions ongoing commitment to supporting local sports clubs and charities around Cumbria.
