In a drastic but “necessary” response to last weekend’s chaotic match against Leicester—where THREE Carlisle Futsal Club players were sent off and will now miss the remainder of the season – the club has announced a radical new initiative:
For our remaining games, randomly selected fans from the stands will be subbed on for the final 10 minutes of every match!
🎤 Club Statement:
“After losing three players in one game and mounting injuries we have a squad crisis, we are a community club and after giving so much to us over the years we want to give something back to the fans. We need to turn to the people to help us get over the line. This is about fan engagement, club spirit, and ultimately making sure we can actually finish a match with a full team. We also hope it will raise vital funds for the Club and engage some new fans.”
📋 How It Works:
🔹 At every home game, two lucky (or unlucky) fans will be selected at random from our fan raffle.
🔹 Winners will be handed a club kit (one-size-fits-all).
🔹 No prior futsal experience needed—just passion and a willingness to chase the ball after a nutmeg.
🔹 The club strongly recommends pre-match stretching. Insurance will be provided though.
🔥 Player & Coach Reactions:
-
Manager Phil Codd: “We have had no choice here really. Its not the route we would want to go down ideally given we are heading into a cup final and promotion play offs but we’ve lost key players and the Chairman is adamant that this is the best solution to a temporary problem.”
-
Captain John Heyes: “I don’t think I should have been sent off to be honest but my primal instincts just kicked in. Nobody calls a man from Wigan a coward.”
🤯 Fan Reactions:
Some supporters are thrilled at the chance to represent Carlisle Futsal Club. Others have conveniently remembered they have “bad knees” and will be hiding behind their mates when the raffle starts.
Will this bold move bring the team closer to victory, or will we see Carlisle’s first-ever fan-induced own goal? Only time will tell…
