CLUB UPDATE: COVID-19

August 20, 2020by Jalson0

We closed the Club on the 17th March 2020 following government guidance to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Nearly 12 months have now passed and whilst some outdoor sports returned briefly last summer the news is has not been as positive for indoor sports.

Our governing body have not yet permitted Futsal to return but even when it does get the green light from the FA we will be reliant on indoor venues being able to operate without restriction and until this happens a return to our normal activities will not be possible.

As a committee we are exploring outdoor options to get our squads playing again even if this means a reduced training programme. One of our Club values is innovation so we will continue to work with our partners to achieve a solution to allow a safe return for Futsal as soon as possible. We have managed to secure a license through the council for the use of the abandoned tennis courts at Bitts Park and have invested over £3k so far to get these up to a standard where we can train safely.

We have also been working on some exciting things which will be announced in full when we open again including:

  • A new training and matchday kit
  • 5 new Club sponsors
  • Updated Club website
  • Our own home venue project
  • New social media branding for the new season
  • Academy programme re-vamp
  • Updated coaching curriculum
  • New learning zone exclusively for members on our Club website
  • New season long local Futsal leagues
