JOSH JONES: My target is a Wales call up

November 7, 2019by Jalson0

Big in stature and big in personality recent recruit Joshua Jones has aspirations to make it to the top in the football format he has always preferred. A 5-a-side enthusiast his team ‘Instant Noodles’ finished 5th in 2017 and then 4th in 2019 in the FA peoples cup out of over 4500 teams. Years playing the small sided format meant he excelled on his Carlisle Futsal trial and was offered a place in the Clubs National League squad. Josh gives his views on being part of the Club and his own aspirations for the season.

I joined the group quite late into pre season and it was clear the squad was strong and already well on with creating a real identity around how they want to play for the season. The standard was much higher than i had anticipated. Living an hour and a half away from Carlisle, plus not having played competitive Futsal before it would have been really easy for me not to integrate into the group and lose interest but I was made welcome from minute one by all the lads which shows what a tight knit group we’ve got here. I am delighted to be a part of it. I’ve always played five a side and competed all over the country and had a couple of seasons playing in a local futsal league so when I got asked to come up and try out for Carlisle I didn’t think twice. The standard of training and the mates I’ve made already makes the travel worth it.

Unfortunately getting Injured 5 days before the season started means I haven’t been involved on a matchday yet but seeing the lads doing the business in the first two games and managing to still stay involved with training has kept me hungry to get back on court with the lads and help.I’m just looking forward to playing now and showing everyone what I can do. We want to win every game this season and will be targeting another 3 points this Sunday against East Riding. My aim is push on and make an impact in every game in this quality team and get myself an international call up for wales before the season ends.

We expect every game In this league to be tough because we are a new team and we’re taking on teams we know nothing about. We are taking nothing for granted going into any game. We’ve trained really well the last few weeks on some new things and tightened up on what we were already doing well, so we’re ready to go.

You can keep up to date with progress of Josh and the team via our twitter feed @carlislefutsal this Sunday 10th November 11.30am as we take on East Riding away in Hull in the National Futsal League.
